The Teams Shaping Tomorrow

This research group focuses on exploring the photochemical possibilities of solar energy, especially its potential for producing solar fuels through solar photocatalysis or artificial photosynthesis. It also includes the design, improvement, and optimisation of technologies based on combining photochemical processes for the removal of particularly complex and persistent pollutants.

The Photovoltaic Technology Evaluation Centre (PV-TEC) at Fraunhofer ISE was established in 2005 to bridge the gap between laboratory research and industrial application. This large-scale laboratory is equipped with state-of-the-art process and characterisation equipment for the development of silicon solar cells.

ICFO was founded in 2002 by the Government of Catalonia and the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC), both of which are members of its board of trustees along with the Cellex and Mir-Puig Foundations, philanthropic entities that have played a critical role in the advancement of the institute since 2007. Energy and environmental science, including photovoltaics, hydrogen generation and photocatalysis are among the research areas that ICFO is focused on.

ICMAB (Part of CSIC) is a multidisciplinary research centre focused on cutting-edge research in functional advanced materials in the fields of energy, electronics, nanomedicine and application fields yet to be imagined. The ICMAB keeps its initial enthusiasm in generating new knowledge in materials science research, and transferring it to society and the industry. Relevant research groups for the platform are Molecular materials for electronic devices, nanoengineered superconductors and superconducting materials

Research group based at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC) dedicated to the research of hydrogen photoproduction under mild conditions using titania-based materials.

IREC’s main objective is to develop disruptive energy solutions and bring them to society. Their research covers photovoltaics and disruptive advances in the energy field.

LNEG activity covers the energy resources, the renewables technologies as well as the energy efficiency, and the end uses such as Energy in Buildings and Communities, Smart cities in order to achieve a Sustainable Energy System. LNEG carried out R&D Projects with national and international partners, as well as a Technical assistant to the Industry in order to support the sustainable development of the Portuguese economy.

A specialist energy materials research institute focused on the physics and chemistry that will transform the future of energy generation, storage, transmission and energy efficiency, including hydrogen generation and photocatalysis.

The Swedish Consortium for Artificial Photosynthesis is a collaborative research environment to advance the science and utilisation of solar fuels - fuel from solar energy. They bring together leading scientists with expertise in a broad range of disciplines within chemistry, physics and biology; to do fundamental and applied research, developing solutions for a sustainable future.

The H2CAT network brings together the main Catalan research groups in the green hydrogen sector to develop and create programmes for the valorisation and transfer of research results to the social, productive and commercial environment in the field of green hydrogen to the ecosystem.
